When it comes to lifestyle perks, Cypress Green has many. One of the most beautiful is easy access to Kleb Woods Nature Preserve, a haven for nature lovers located less than three miles from our community.

The preserve spans more than 133 acres of thickly canopied forest, including loblolly pine, Shumard oak, water oak, live oak, eastern red cedar, sugarberry and pecan trees. Tranquil ponds, three miles of meandering trails and a remnant prairie provide homes for birds and wildlife.

One of the best ways to experience Kleb Woods is by exploring its well-maintained hiking trails. The Birding Trail is a favorite among birdwatchers and offers the opportunities to spot sparrows, wrens, blackbirds, mockingbirds, thrushes, robins and waxwings. Don’t forget your camera and binoculars.

The preserve is also known for its vibrant butterfly population, with numerous species fluttering about in search of nectar. History lovers can visit the Kleb family homestead and blacksmith shop by appointment and view historical farm equipment. The center also hosts educational programs and events throughout the year, making it an excellent destination for family outings.

Kleb Woods Nature Preserve is located at 20303 Draper Road in Tomball. The preserve is open daily 7 a.m. to dusk. Nature Center hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Saturday. Admission is free.
